Fecke Wars: The Smell of Defeat

A sniff of blogging napalm in the morning.

I’ll admit it. My previous post about Jeff Fecke was a train wreck.

I learned some hard lessons too. Be careful when you dedicate a post to an individual, as they might actually respond. And respond he did. Obvious rules for veterans, but not so clear for bloggers just starting to gain visibility. The tongue-in-cheek conjecture (aka trolling) at the end left my post wide open to reprisal.

Of course I have no regrets. In fact, I learned a great deal from Jeff’s rebuttals as he addressed my top-of-mind concerns about feminism. His writing successfully pulled me onto the other side of the looking glass for a stretch, which is no easy feat. Those who have impacted me the most have usually held vastly different viewpoints.

Debate keeps us on our toes, as it forces us to reexamine, and effectively defend our position. It also makes dinking around online heaps more invigorating.
