Jeff Fecke: Closet MRA

Blogger, self-styled feminist, Jeff Fecke.

In 2007 Jeff Fecke attacked men’s rights activists with a string of sensationalistic strawman arguments. He compared them with White Nationalists, and ‘folks who think the Christian Right is oppressed.’

A month later he labeled Glenn Sacks a ‘domestic violence denier,’ even going so far to draft a nifty little chart comparing people like Sacks with ‘global warming deniers’ and ‘evolution deniers.’

Back then, MRAs were a tiny fringe group with novel ideas about egalitarianism. Allied with the popular consensus on gender issues, knocking them down was easy. As a longtime proponent of feminism, Jeff Fecke reacted to the men’s rights movement the way any good ideologue is expected to: with ridicule.

Much has changed since then.

The MRM has grown exponentially over the last five years, at least on the internet. One of the biggest hubs for MRAs, subreddit /r/MensRights/ is currently 34,610 readers strong. A Voice For Men, and The Spearhead continue to make larger and larger waves.

The tide also may be turning in the unlikeliest of places.

Even zealots like Jeff Fecke are having their doubts about pop feminism. Days ago he penned a piece entitled ‘Jezebel Continues Its Long, Slow Decline,’ lambasting the online mag for its lax standards. Barring the bits where he bends over backwards to avoid offending his readership, his opinion here is no different from MRAs, the very people he demonized. He points out author Doug Barry’s hypocrisy for making light of sexual assault, when it’s a woman doing the raping.

Clip:

You know what’s super-funny? Rape!

What’s that? You say rape isn’t funny? It’s a horrible act of violence, one of the worst crimes a human can commit? Well, what if I told you a girl raped a guy? Have you busted a gut yet?

No? You don’t think it’s funny if a girl rapes a guy? Indeed, you think that patriarchal expectations of men’s sexual appetites would instead make it difficult for the guy to deal with the attack? And you think that while we shouldn’t get too far into the weeds (women are still more likely to be raped then men, and men are vastly more likely to commit sexual assaults than women), you think that the gender of both perpetrator and victim is not nearly as relevant as the need for society to condemn sexual assault unreservedly?

Well, you’re no fun. And you’re never going to be able to write for Jezebel, which Saturday launched a truly reprehensible article about a man being raped by a woman. Its title?

German Woman Tries to Hold Sexhausted Man Prisoner in Her Apartment

It’s funny because after being raped, he was exhausted — and rape is about sex! Evidently, I guess!

Gauging by their replies, Jezebel visitors were by in large not thrilled with the piece either. Meanwhile Alas, A Blog commenters took a hipster-like stance, writing off Jezebel as too mainstream to be an authentic feminist site.

Although feminists and MRAs actually agree on some issues, they’ll never make nice. MRAs are repelled by the phony political correctness, sophism, and cultural Marxism inherent to feminism. Women right’s proponents despise the lewd speech (perceived as “misogyny”), and focus on the masculine ideals of liberty and self-sufficiency (over security and comfort) inherent to MRAs.

Zooming back to his 2007 article ‘Explainer: What’s an MRA?,’ Fecke shares his solution to clashes in gender politics: more feminism!

Of course, if fathers are undervalued as caregivers, it’s for the same reason that women are undervalued as employees — because neither fits the model of what men and women are “supposed to do.”

How do you solve that?

With the novel idea that men and women should be able to map out their own destinies, free from being directed on what they’re “supposed to do.” It’s a political ideology called “feminism.” The MRAs with legitimate gripes would be well-served to embrace feminism. But given the overall hatred of women woven into the fabric of the movement, I won’t hold my breath.

Feminists press women to get into science, sports, politics, etc., and to reject traditional roles. That’s merely applying a different kind of social pressure. It’s called pushing an agenda, not opening up women’s choices. Collectively “feminazis” have proven they care zilch about the destinies of those they disagree with, thus the phrase.

If men were well-served by feminism the MRM wouldn’t be exploding in popularity like it is. The feminist establishment cares next to nothing about “men’s gripes.” It wasn’t designed to. It’s here to serve women (and sustain big government).

So why not embrace the men’s movement, Jeff? Ha! There’s a greater chance of Dick Clark hosting New Year’s Rockin’ Eve this year.

The mangina delusion

Growing up Jeff Fecke was the awkward, omega kid that tried to earn female approval by blending in with the girl group. Sadly, this strategy never works. That and it’s a type of earthy hell. Cuties cried on his shoulder but didn’t have the decency to toss him the occasional mercy fuck.

Instead of adapting, he grew resentful of the so called alphas that pulled all the babes. The man’s man was his mortal enemy back then as it is now. MRAs are essentially the new “real men,” who seek autonomy from feminine approval or any approval for that matter.

Fecke would rather think of the MRM as a band of ‘woman beaters,’ and ‘rape apologists’ because the truth stings. Deep down, he wants to rub elbows with the men he grew up despising as an equal. Somewhere inside him, there’s this little MRA voice he hushes every time he sees clues that current-wave feminism has jumped the shark.

  1. Hmmm….interesting.

Although I think you should have left out the personal speculations about Jeff’s high school days and just kept things strictly political. That’s what I do, after all. Separate the personal from the political.

Still, all in all, Fecke’s tone has gotten dramatically more moderate since his infamous 2007 smear piece. He could never get away with that shit nowadays, since times have changed with the explosive international growth of the non-feminist revolution (Europe, Australia, India, the Phillipines, India, Russia, India, Brazil, India, Japan, India. . . etc..etc.)

If they ever do a remake of “Devliverance”, I think Jeff would have a good chance to start his acting career — he’d be such a natural for the “squeal like a pig” scene, dontcha know? ;)
